Jana has always managed to glean a measure of humor from life’s experiences, whether it be
when she was a TV news reporter in L.A., college professor, media trainer, or high
school ‘principal for a day’.
She shares her gift of encouragement wrapped in humor. As a cancer survivor, Jana speaks
about overcoming difficult circumstances with humor and a positive attitude that encourages
others to never give up.
She is an inspirational humorist who engages and delights her audience with her unique
approach to life and skillful use of inventive visuals that create a memorable program. She
has been called “a hero – very courageous and wonderfully funny!”
Jana's Profile
An ovarian cancer survivor since 2006, Jana founded Been There – Got The Wig!®
Breakfast Club, a networking group for women who meet for camraderie, conversation and
comfort food. Endorsed by the American Cancer Society, the club provides a positive, upbeat,
faith-based environment for women currently undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.
She is a member Christian Comedy Association (CCA). In 2005, Jana joined this
networking community of Christian comedians and performers who support the use of comedy
for outreach and promote a clean entertainment.
Jana’s background includes TV News On-Camera Reporter and News Assignment Editor for
Los Angeles stations including KTTV, KTLA, KABC.
She has extensive background in teaching broadcasting and speech communication at
California State University and community colleges such as Long Beach, Golden West, Cypress,
Saddleback, Orange Coast, Fullerton City, Rancho Santiago.
She has written news and commercial copy for TV/radio, a public television series
documentary, produced articles about the news media for newspapers and professional
publications.
Jana is the co-author of Whatever Happens, You Too Can Bounce Back.
