Kristina Groves a Multi Medallist for Canada at the 2010 Olympics!
A native of Ottawa, Olympic champion Kristina started skating when she was 11 because she
wanted to distinguish herself from her ski-crazed family. Good news for Canada.
Kristina won an Olympic silver medal in the women's 1500m and was part of the Canadian
squad that claimed silver in the new team pursuit event.
In 2007-08, she produced a season to remember, collecting an unprecedented five medals
at the World Single Distance Championships including gold in the 3000m; 8 World Cup
medals; the 1500m overall World Cup title; and bronze at the World All-round Championships.
A conscientious athlete and advocate, Kristina speaks passionately about much more than her
sport and her Olympic accomplishments.

Audience Testimonials
“We invited Kristina to play a key role at Petro-Canada's Family Day at the Calgary Stampede.
She was a trooper, meeting us on the grounds at 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday to help serve
breakfast to 20,000 people over a 2 hour period. She spoke from the Grandstand stage to the
thousands of families who packed the seats to feast on their pancake breakfast. Kristina is a
warm and engaging speaker and she did a great job in inspiring the kids and their parents with
her story of how she began her speed skating career. We were so pleased to have Kristina
with us at this year's Petro-Canada Family Day Breakfast. As our Sr. Vice-President, Neil
Camarta said, she's a "real pistol" - someone who's not only at the top of her game but who
generously gives back to the community."

“It is inspiring to be supported by individuals, such as Kristina Groves, who believe in Right To
Play and appreciate the incredible difference our sport and play programs are making in
children’s lives worldwide. Kristina is a true role model, and her leadership, commitment and
integrity are reflected in her sport as well as in all of the volunteer work that she does on
behalf of our organization."
